Prelims will be held from Tuesday, February 23 to Friday, February 26th at the Octave Theatre at le Centre Culturel Frontenac, 711 Dalton Ave. Kingston Regional Finals will be on Saturday, February 27th at Duncan McArthur Hall on West Campus at Queen’s University.

Tickets available at the door and each night of play begins at 7pm.

That’s right, this week is the 9th annual Nova Scotia Regional Improv Games!

This Thursday kicks off the 3 day tournament held at St. Matthew’s Church on beautiful downtown Barrington Street.

Preliminaries are Thursday & Friday at 7pm, and are only $5 for each night – tickets available at the door. On Saturday, the top 4 teams will compete at the Regional Finals for a chance to go to Ottawa for the National Festival. Finals begin at 7:30pm and are $10.

We have 12 fantastic teams lined up to compete, so each night of play will be action-packed and packed full of action. This is the largest Nova Scotia Games yet, so lets make sure they keep growing and growing. Yes, let’s.

As soon as I start feeling the weight on February starting to wear on me, and I feel like I will never get through another harsh prairie winter, I know its time for Improvisation in Saskatchewan!

The CIG Sask Tournament kicks off in 2 weeks. Teams are currently hard at work preparing, (and receiving the occaisonal visit from our finest trainers), Posters, tickets and Players Passes arrived on my desk bright and early Monday Morning, and I’m expecting boxloads of CIG Sask tshirts and hoodies to arrive any day. A pox on Christmas! THIS is the most wonderful time of the year.

That’s right, the South Island Cup was a ton of fun and now we are down to the top ten senior teams from across the island, as well as the top 5 junior teams. This will be the first time the North and South Island teams have seen each other since last year. They are pulling out all the stops to be the one team that represents this amazing region at the National Festival in Ottawa!

It will be a blast!

Prelims are over and we are now down to the top 9 teams in the Lower Mainland Regional Tournament. Last year’s champs Prince of Wales got an early lead with fantastic Theme and Story events only to be trumped on the second to last night by New Westminster’s powerhouse team.

With finals already sold out and its spots filled with great teams, tonight’s WILDCARD round competitors will be hungry for that 5^th place spot. Come see Carson Graham, Rockridge, Mountain, McMath and Kitsilano battle it out improv-stylez for the still open spot in the finals. Or join New Westminster, Prince of Wales, Burnaby Mountain, Lord Byng and the top team from Wildcard at the FINALS THIS SATURDAY!

This year has been a standout for the teams as many saw their players graduate last year, paving the way for entirely new squads. Congrats to all of the teams and we’ll see you tonight at WILDCARD!

The standings were tight though, with Isfeld’s seniors and juniors not far behind Vanier. The Isfeld junior team will join Vanier and the top South Island teams in the Island Junior Finals on Feb 7th at 1:30 pm. Highland and Isfeld’s seniors teams will advance with Vanier to the Island Semi-finals Feb 5th and 6th in Victoria.

All of the teams played hard, showing a lot of growth and dedication. Scores will be posted on the Island page soon. The Island staff, the CIGeniuses are gearing up for the South Island Cup, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Vic High. Shows start at 7:30 pm, tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults at the door.

We’ve also added all of the materials found on our old training site to Improv.ca. You can now browse through our lists of recommended games, exercises and warm-ups. These resources will be updated periodically so be sure to check back for updates. You can also print each page and add them to your Coaches’ Companion (handbook) binder for easy reference.
