Out EAST May 31st to June 4th in Montreal Kirsten Rasmussen and Al Connors will be calling Montreal Improv’s theatre on St Lauren home for the week as they teach the following amazing cast: Nicholas Parsons,  Lukas Conway, Rebecca Guilderson, Michelle Hart, Jordy Paul – Fontaine, Stephanie Foran, Tom Hearn, Nick Harvey Cheetham,
Michael Hammond, Lara Gordon, Jennifer Ferris, Alanna Dickinson,
Jeff Donaldson, Aidan Shenkman, Mike Fardy and Haley Guest. What an amazing amount of talent to introduce to a truly fantastic city.

Out West the Next Act festival will be calling the Instant Shop home for the week of July 5th to 9th. Lee White, Shawn Norman and Alistair Cook will be getting the opportunity to work with the stellar cast including: Jordan Boivin, Sarah Szloboda, Jesse McPhee, Joleen Balentine, Jullian Kolstee, Caitlin Curtis, Gordie Lucious, Jenna Briscoe, Ange Cullen, Katy Bennett, Andrew Chen and Kai Rudell. All of the performances out west will be held at the Carousel Studio thursday to Saturday, see you there!!!

The Canadian Improv Games are proud to announce that the Improvcamp will be delighted to receive well over 125 campers this year! Luckily the Camp Fircom facility will allow for two venues so campers will actually get even more stage time than last year! Thats not all that is brand new at Fircom they have a great new dining hall, newly renovated workshop rooms, TEEPEE CABINS and an amazingly redeveloped landscape. ITS GOING TO BE AMAZING!

Rene Dellefont, Alistair Cook and 23 other amazing staff members  are excited to put all of these fine improvisers through their paces this august 24-31 on Gambier Island BC!

And our Outstanding Improvisor Award went to Kevin Deane! He will now be attending Improv University this summer!  Thats another great reason for you to sign up and go too.

The Canadian Improv Games:
Web Tournament

This tournament is open to ANY school team from ANYWHERE in Canada.  Even if your school already participates in a regional tournament, you can still submit a team to the Web tournament.  Even if your school has never participated or even seen the Canadian Improv Games before, you can participate in the Web Tournament.

All the usual rules of the Canadian Improv Games apply:

• Teams play 4 out of the 5 events (Theme and Life mandatory)
• No more than 8 performers on a team (no player substitutions from event to event)
• 4-minute time limit on all scenes (though scenes can be shorter)

The difference is, instead of performing live in front of a panel of Canadian Improv Games’ judges, your performance is recorded on video and submitted online.

Once your submission has been received, you will receive a video adjudication in return as well as the chance to compete alongside the country’s top improv teams in the National Tournament in Ottawa!

The Improv University Experience!!

Improv University is the brand new summer program from the Geniuses that brought you IMPROVCAMP— Improv U is an exciting University style experience for high school students who love the art of Improv, learning leadership skills and having an amazing time!At the weeklong event held at the amazing BISHOPS UNIVERSITY campus young improvisers receive comprehensive instruction in improvisational theatre by professionals from all over North America. Students will be organized into ensembles that will travel from workshop to workshop, gaining skills and learning about their craft. There are performances each night in two separate theatres, and many varsity styled activities like intramural sports and outdoor teambuilding— what a great way to meet other young improvisers from across Canada.

IMPROV UNIVERSITY 2011 will be held July 10-17 at Bishops University, Sherbrooke Quebec.

Huge congrats to John Rennie for advancing to the National Tournament and all the best in Ottawa! Since Montreal was the last regional tournament of the season, the folks at JR don’t have a ton of time to get ready, but you know what? They’re improvisers. They’ll get there.

Thank you, city of Montreal, for welcoming me in as your new Regional Director and I look forward to getting to know you better.  I think this relationship just might go somewhere special.
