Online Teacher’s Conference 2020

The CIG is proud to announce the first ever Online Teacher’s Conference!

On Wednesday August 12th and Wednesday August 19th the CIG will be hosting full day teacher’s workshops. These workshops will run from 11:30am-6:30pm EST. Each day will consist of four 1-hour workshops, a 30 minute warm up, a 30 minute cool down, and two 1-hour breaks throughout the day.

This is a breakdown of the day! All times are in EST.

Introductions11:30-12:00Meet your fellow attendees! This half an hour will be useful for teachers to meet each other and to chat a bit about their experience coaching and teaching.
Warm up and Game Swap12-1pmTeachers will have the opportunity to warm up with some improv games. Doing Improv on an online format can be challenging but this game swap and warm up will equip teachers with the skills to run an effective warm up with their students.
Break1-2pmLunch Break
Improv Online2-3pmWe are in a new world of improv and technology and with things so uncertain it is important for teachers to equip themselves with the tools needed to run improv workshops and classes online. In this workshops teachers will have the opportunity to learn some techniques of doing improv over Zoom.
Break3-4pmBreak
Judging Workshop4-5pmYour facilitator will be able to share some clips with teachers and they will have the opportunity to practice judging those scenes. This workshop will breakdown then judging criteria and help teachers understand the fundamental skills and evaluation criteria used in the CIG curriculum
Troubleshooting5-6pmCoaches and teachers sometimes need help moving past barriers in their classrooms/rehearsal spaces especially when thinking about teaching online. This workshop will be an opportunity to discuss challenges and obstacles and work through options with other teachers from across the country.
Cool Down and Debrief6-6:30pmYour facilitator will lead some cool-down improv games, fun activities and have a chance to chat with teachers before they log off.

What do I need to do before the day starts?

Currently registration is capped at 10 participants per day but if there is overwhelming interest we may open more spots.

The cost to teachers is 100$+HST.
