Overview

There are so many of reasons to get involved in the exciting world of improv!  Whether you want to learn theatre performance skills, build your confidence, become a strong public speaker or just have some fun, the Canadian Improv Games is a great way to be part of something different.

The Canadian Improv Games runs a number of programs throughout the year for high school students and young adults.  High school students usually get their start with the CIG by joining an improv team through their high school that is registered to participate in CIG programs.  After taking part in training and workshops, these students then compete regionally for a chance to take part in a 4-day festival at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

Just because school is out for summer doesn’t mean that participating in improv is over!  CIG also runs a number of summer camps for students.   These camps fill up quickly so follow our summer camps page or our Facebook page for registration dates!

The Canadian Improv Games also runs a summer festival called Next Act that offers an intensive 4-day training program for intermediate improvisers (ages 18-24) in collaboration with theatre companies across Canada.  For more information on our 2017 program, visit our festival page.  Registration will open in late winter.
