Improv University (or Improv U) is a summer camp program for high school students ages 13 to 18 who love the art of improv, learning leadership skills and are looking to have a truly memorable and fun experience! Known as the best campus ever, Improv U is the most exciting way to spend your summer. Learn from the best, meet forever friends, and learn to #BeAnything.
At the week-long event at Bishops University outside Sherbrooke, Quebec, young improvisers receive comprehensive instruction in improvisational theatre by professionals from all over North America. Students will be organized into ensembles that will travel from workshop to workshop, gaining skills and learning about their craft. There are performances each night in two separate theatres, and many varsity-style activities like intramural sports and outdoor team building. It’s a great way to meet other young improvisers from across Canada!
At camp, young improvisors have the opportunity to further promote their artistic expression as part of a group of ensembles that participate in workshops, learn the ins-and-outs of producing shows and creating scenes while working with different trainers. Students also get a number of performance opportunities during their stay at camp, where they get to demonstrate what they’ve learned in front of a loving audience of their fellow campers and staff. IMPROVU is the ultimate combination of the best improvisational training Canada has to offer and fun varsity style activities. Campers participate in games, swimming, intramural sports between working together on performance projects. And dance parties. So many dance parties. For improvisers of all skill and experience levels.
The Leadership Program is designed for young people who are ready to take the next step, both as improvisers and youth leaders. Members of the leadership program take workshops to grow their improvisation skill set, and they also take seminars designed to enhance their abilities as leaders and mentors of youth. This program is both challenging and rewarding and vital for those improvisers who are interested in assisting in the growth of the next generation. Acceptance is by application only. Applications are a part of registration.
The registration cost for the Improv U Program is $799. There is an additional fee of $55 for return bus transportation from the airport or bus terminal to Bishop’s University. Please note that registration for 2017 is not yet open.

The dormitories also include washrooms with showers in each room, playing fields and a studio theatre in which we will hold performances each night.
