The Staff and Board of the Canadian Improv Games wish our students and all of our communities – volunteers, teachers, families, audiences and alumni – the best of health.
Improv U is a week-long summer camp program for high school students ages 13 to 18 that provides the opportunity for students of improv – new and old – to get together and hone their skills in a safe, inclusive and fun environment. Known as the BEST CAMPUS EVER, Improv U is the most exciting way to spend your summer. Learn the art of improvisation from the best instructors from across the country while making lifelong friendships with your camp peers!
Each year, Improv U at Bishops University (in Sherbrooke, Quebec), offers young improvisers the opportunity to further promote their artistic expression as part of a group of ensembles that participate in workshops, learn the ins-and-outs of producing shows and creating scenes while working with different trainers. Students also get a number of performance opportunities during their stay at camp, where they get to demonstrate what they’ve learned in front of a loving audience of their fellow campers and staff. Improv U is the ultimate combination of the best improvisational training Canada has to offer and fun varsity-style activities. Campers participate in games, swimming, intramural sports between working together on performance projects. And dance parties. So many dance parties. For improvisers of all skill and experience levels.
The leadership program is designed for young people who are ready to take the next step, both as improvisers and youth leaders. The members of the leadership program take workshops to grow their improvisation skill set, but they also take seminars designed to enhance their abilities as leaders and mentors. This program is both challenging and rewarding, and vital for those improvisers who are interested in assisting in the growth of the next generation. We ask that individuals who wish to apply for the Leadership Program fill out our application form. The deadline for applications is May 20th, we will select candidates for the program on June 1st, 2020.
Our Leadership Program is for current Grade 12 students (as of September 2019) and recent high school graduates. Applicants are welcome to register for camp as a camper while awaiting the results of their application. Successful applicants who have not yet registered for camp will be asked to do so upon accepting a position in the leadership program.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Here’s a suggested packing list. Even if you’ve been to camp before it’s always a good reminder of what to bring.
The Bishop’s University campus is outfitted with dormitories, which have rooms with two beds (mattresses included). There is a dining hall where meals are prepared by Bishops’ certified staff. The dormitories also include washrooms with showers in each room, playing fields and a studio theatre in which we will hold performances each night.
Q: Will there be vegetarian/special dietary options?
A: Yes! The cafeteria at Bishop’s is vegetarian and vegan friendly, and is very accommodating with special dietary restrictions. Please ensure to include any special requests with your registration in the Allergies/Medical Conditions section.
Q: Do I have to have any improv experience?
A: None at all! Improv U is an inclusive, safe space for students of all ages and skill levels. Our programming is malleable, and will be tailored to each student’s level of comfort and skill.
