Ottawa, ON – September 12, 2024 – The Canadian Improv Games is excited to announce the return of AL Connors to the organization as Program Manager. A celebrated figure in Ottawa’s arts community, AL brings over two decades of experience in theatre, comedy, and improvisation, paired with a passion for nurturing young talent.
AL’s history with CIG is longstanding—beginning as a high school player, followed by years of volunteering, and working his way through nearly every role in the organization. His contributions include being awarded the United Way Community Builder Award in 2006 for his work as Ottawa Regional Director and the CIG Founders Award in 2007 for his impact on a national scale. He previously stepped down as National Director in 2016.
Beyond his contributions to improvisational theatre, AL has played a key role in shaping Ottawa’s arts landscape, directing, producing, and designing a wide range of theatrical performances. During the pandemic, his work in virtual and hybrid event production flourished. “I’ve been fortunate enough to work on a lot of exciting projects,” said Connors. “But nothing has been as exciting, challenging, or rewarding as Canadian Improv Games. I’m eager to dive back in.”
“The Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome AL back to Canadian Improv Games in this crucial role. His deep connection to our mission, along with his wealth of experience and innovative approach, makes him the ideal leader to drive our programs forward.” Jameson Glas, Chair of the Board of Directors.
Recognized with multiple awards for his outstanding contributions to theatre, comedy, and community, AL’s return to CIG is eagerly anticipated by colleagues, students, and the broader arts community.
